Reader Requests 1: Dear Ashley…

First off, I just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone that voted this week for my first installment of Reader Requests. It was fun watching the numbers go up this past week. So I suppose we should just get into it then…

Q1: Dear Ashley, who do you think will go to the Superbowl this year?

A1 (first answer as well as a tasty steak sauce): Well, I’m not a very big football fan BUT if I were to make a guess, I’d have to say…

           vs.

That’s right…Green Bay vs. the Buffalo Bills. I choose these teams because #1, Green Bay is still (or at least I think they are) undefeated. And #2, the Bills are showing a vast improvement this year from last year. Oh my gosh, can you remember how they deff were pretty much the WORST team in the entire NFL last year? I do…mostly because I was conned into watching the games because Doug is a die-hard fan.

Anyway, they are looking really good. Now, don’t get me wrong–they still have a long way to go but as long as they play as the team that pulled the upset against the Patriots rather than the team that choked against the Giants, they’ll have a good fighting chance.

Just don’t quote me on it. LOL.

Q2: Dear Ashley, what are your thoughts on the upcoming election?

A2: This question is one that I’ve been on the fence about…not because I don’t really know who I will vote for, but simply because I have no interest in politics WHATSOEVER! And though I know that biz is just a necessary evil, I am very uninterested in it.

For one, I really hate that every commercial on television before the day of the election is just paid advertisements of the opponents slandering each other. To me, that’s the most unprofessional thing to do…especially if one of them has to be voted into office. I mean, is it really necessary? It’s pretty much like cyber-bullying except no one is really raising a stink about it. Pretty much all the commercials I see around election time look something like this…

Ok, so maybe not that extreme but you get the point. Candidates spend all this money tearing down the each other when that money could be spent on more productive things…

…like creating jobs or relieving poverty. I don’t know, I’m a dreamer.

And secondly, I’m probably part of the problem because I don’t really spend time educating myself about the so-called promises that these politicians preach before they are elected. Probably because I’m too worried about all the debit that’s crushing me from college while at least $100 or more is coming out of each of my paychecks to pay for Social Security, Welfare, Unemployment and taxes I have to pay because I am making money. It feels good to be in the working middle class…

Sorry…

Q3: Dear Ashley, what would you do with a million dollars?

A3: Ok, let’s be realistic. Unless, by some divine miracle, I win the lotto or something, I probably won’t ever see that lump sum of a million dollars to spend on whatever I wanted. But because this was the #1 polled answer, I must do what I can to please you all.

First off, I’d probably try to put some money away for the offspring that I don’t have yet. I mean, I spent well over $120K for 4 years in college and when you factor in inflation and the trend of rising tuition costs, college will be like a half a million dollars by the time they are getting ready to go.

Secondly, I would like to pay off my debt–and don’t judge me because I know you all would spend at least some of it on yourselves. Paying that stuff off would be a HUGE burden off of my shoulders…real talk.

And lastly, I probably would want to start my own non-profit doing something similar to what I did this past year in AmeriCorps. This past year was probably the most fun I’d had doing work as well as the most rewarding. Plus, if it was my own non-profit, I wouldn’t have to worry about all the bologna that went on with the institution and the select people who made my life miserable. I mean, if I could spend money to teach people how to make money legally and encourage them to strengthen the economy by becoming entrepreneurs to bring money back into their community, I’d be all for it!

OMG I MELTTTTTT!

Oh, and I’d definitely buy myself a pot belly pig… Like seriously, look at how cute that little playful piggy is. He’d be playful and happy and FAT as heck but who cares? Pot belly pigs need loving too. I’d train him/her to fetch and cuddle and be just like a little puppy dog.

(And in case my Twin is reading this…yes, that is a sheep. And yes…this does count as a sheep attack. I win.)

Alright. That’s it for now. Please feel free to vote for next week’s post down below. Love!
